In more detail

Full garden transformations

The whole garden planned as one job rather than a patio this year and some fencing the next. Levels, drainage, paving, lawn, beds, screens and lighting all set out together, so the finished thing hangs together instead of looking assembled in stages.

  • Survey of levels, access and drainage before anything is priced
  • Zones planned around how you actually use it — eating, sitting, kids, storage
  • Paving, lawn, beds, screens and lighting in one programme
  • Old garden, spoil and rubble cleared and taken away
  • One price, one team, one point of contact

Turfing & new lawns

A real lawn is still the cheapest way to transform a garden, provided the ground underneath is prepared. Most failed turf isn’t bad turf — it’s turf laid straight onto compacted builder’s rubble and expected to root into it.

  • Old lawn and weed growth stripped out
  • Ground rotavated, graded and levelled
  • Topsoil brought in where there isn’t enough of it
  • Fresh turf laid tight, staggered and rolled
  • Watering and first-cut instructions before we leave

Retaining walls, steps & levels

Huddersfield gardens slope. Rather than fighting it, the slope becomes the structure — a raised terrace here, a cut-in seating area there, steps linking the two. Done properly it gives you more usable garden than a flat one of the same size.

  • Rendered, brick and sleeper retaining walls
  • Matching steps and risers in the same paving
  • Split-level terraces cut into a slope
  • Drainage behind every retaining structure
  • Raised beds built in rather than bolted on

Fencing & slatted screens

Boundaries, privacy screens and the hardwood slatted panels that have quietly replaced the fence panel as the thing people actually want. Posts go in concrete, and screens get fixed to something that’ll still be there in ten years.

  • Close board and panel fencing
  • Hardwood slatted privacy screens
  • Screening above raised beds and retaining walls
  • Gates and side access
  • Posts concreted, not knocked in and hoped for

Pergolas, canopies & garden lighting

The difference between a garden you look at and a garden you use after seven o’clock. Louvred pergolas, timber canopies and outdoor kitchen cover, with the lighting run in while the ground is still open.

  • Aluminium louvred pergolas
  • Timber canopies and outdoor kitchen cover
  • LED strip lighting into frames, steps and retaining walls
  • Uplighters on trees and planting
  • Cabling run during groundworks, not chased in afterwards

Beds, planting & clearance

Borders that hold their shape, planting chosen for the aspect and the exposure, and gravel or bark finished off so the beds don’t become a weeding job every Sunday. Plus full clearance if the garden has got away from you.

  • Raised and rendered planted borders
  • Planting picked for aspect, soil and exposure
  • Bark, gravel and slate mulch finishes
  • Full garden clearance and green waste removal
  • Overgrown gardens taken back to a starting point

Got my turf levelled by Charlie and his team had a right hand full to get a decent landscaper and these did the job well which is hard to find without been messed about by others

Questions

About the work

Do you do small jobs, or only full gardens?

Both. Plenty of our work is one patio, one lawn or one driveway. If it’s a half-day job we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s worth us coming out or whether you’re better off with a handyman.

Can you work to a design someone else has drawn?

Yes. If you’ve had a garden designer draw something up we’ll build to it, and we’ll flag anything on the drawing that won’t work on the ground before we start rather than halfway through.

Do you supply the plants and materials?

Usually, yes — it’s included in the quote so you get one price for the lot. If you’d rather source your own paving or plants, that’s fine too, just tell us at quoting stage.

Will you take the old garden away?

Yes. Spoil, rubble, old slabs, turf, green waste and rubbish all go with us. It’s in the price, not added at the end.

How far in advance do I need to book?

It varies through the year. Spring and early summer get busy and the diary fills from February. Get the quote done early and you pick the slot rather than taking whatever’s left.

Do you do garden maintenance afterwards?

Our work is the build rather than ongoing maintenance. We’ll leave you with clear instructions on watering new turf, looking after new planting and keeping paving and drainage clear.

Huddersfield and the whole of Kirklees

We work across HD postcodes and out into the surrounding valleys. Steep gardens, clay ground and awkward access are normal round here — it's what we quote for.
